Integrated order picking/order fulfilment systems
Selecting the best order picking/order fulfilment process for your business depends on the characteristics of your operation. We can create and implement integrated order fulfilment systems, so that each product is picked via the most suitable order picking method. Key success factor for orderpicking/order fulfilment is to look at your complete warehouse process. Our integrated order picking systems are enabled by our VISION Warehouse Management System (WMS) for the effective handling of the entire warehouse process.
Staples Advantage, the world’s largest office supply company, chose an integrated order picking system consisting of batch picking for items, with order carts supported by Pick-by-Voice technology, and Pick-to-Belt lines for full cartons. The facility is able to process up to 60,000 order lines per day. Orders entered by 18:00 hours are delivered the next day and accuracy exceeds 99.95%.
PLUS Retail is a prominent food retailer in the Netherlands. For their national DC, delivering 278 stores, they selected a system, in which two order picking strategies (goods-to-man and zone picking) are combined into a single, integrated system. This has improved accuracy (99.99%) and service level to shops, because of family grouping functionality. It has also reduced costs within their distribution network.GAME Stores is a specialist video-game retailer in the UK. The heart of their solution consists of a batch picking and sortation system, enabled by the VISION Warehouse Management System (WMS), closely integrated with a JDA business system. The batches are automatically retrieved from a QUICKSTORE miniload AS/RS and placed onto the sorter. This solution has:
• Lowered operational costs• Operates with less than half the staff required at the former location
• Handles twice the volume of the former location, but has 10% less floor area
• Improved accuracy to 99.5%
