Veghel - In the aftermath of CeMAT Vanderlande Industries has sold the first new ergonomic PICK@EASE™ workstations to TVH Forklift Parts in Belgium. The new workstations are part of an extensive system upgrade at TVH’s facility in Waregem, Belgium. To accommodate the company’s strong growth, the existing system, built by Vanderlande Industries in 2002, will be expanded so TVH can double the amount of order lines handled from 2,000 to 4,000 order lines per hour. The expansion will be implemented while the existing system is fully operational. The expansion is planned to be operational in 2010.
TVH’s high customer service level sets it apart from its competitors. Customers can order parts until late in the day and still be sure of next day delivery. Delivery reliability is very high. TVH has a very large product range in-house (450,000 SKUs), ensuring parts are always available when required. Due to the company’s strong growth, system expansion has become necessary, so the company can maintain its high customer service level. The expansion will be implemented while the existing system is fully operational, so distribution to customers will proceed without disruption. TVH’s current system was built by Vanderlande Industries in 2002. The company is very impressed with system availability and reliability, which are critical in TVH’s business model. Based on this experience, TVH selected Vanderlande Industries again to build the system expansion. The expansion is planned to be operational in 2010.
The project scope includes 1,500 m conveyor system, 9 miniloads and 3 PICK@EASE™ order picking workstations. Another 5 existing miniloads will be retrofitted with new masts. The PICK@EASE™ workstation enables a proven sustainable high operator performance thanks to ergonomic design principles which were applied right from the start of development. Objective was to design workstations which measurably improve operator performance, decrease risk of work-related injury, illness and operator discomfort and therefore improve the quality of work life. The type 3 PICK@EASE™ workstation which will be implemented at TVH is optimised for applications where Value Added Services (such as labelling, special packaging) are required and is therefore especially suited to parts and components applications.
