In October of 2004 Vanderlande Industries US Inc., signed a contract with Northwest Airlines, in Detroit, Michigan for a total value of approximately USD 14.7 million. The award is for the supply and implementation of the Luggage Handling System (LHS) and associated controls for the expansion of the McNamara Terminal at the Northwest WorldGateway.
- Vanderlande Industries will be integrating a new LHS connecting Concourse A with Concourse B
- The new system consists of approximately 9,000 feet of conveyors including 1,800 feet of high-speed conveyor in addition to our standard belt conveyor
- A new sort system in Concourse B will deliver luggage to four new flat plate CRESPLANAR™ make-up unit, which consist of crescent shaped ¼" steel plates mounted onto cast aluminium carriers
- Vanderlande Industries, together with Brock Solutions are also responsible for the supply and installation of the controls system, which includes replacement of the existing high-level controls
- 22 VIPER pushers will be incorporated into the system
The new system will be operational by December of 2005.
