Vanderlande Industries has realised turnkey the complete baggage handling system for departures, transfers and arrivals baggage. Automated Early Bag Storage and 100% Hold Baggage Screening are integrated in Terminal 1 (1995 and 2003) and Terminal 2 (2000).

T1:

  • 6 check-ins (Gate C) followed by a flat TRIPLANAR for make-up sorting. Extended to 12 check-ins and fitted with manual X-ray screening in 2003
  • Initial 6 check-ins (Gate D) with manual sortation by EASYCLAIM have been upgraded in 2004 to a 22-desk check-in area including automated level 1 Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) and connection to T2 for sorting and Level 2/3 screening
  • Arrival reclaim on 4 flat TRIPLANAR carousels

T2:

  • 40 check-ins with ‘Walk Through Check In’ for a straight-through passenger flow. Subsequently, bags are transported vertically to the baggage hall by elevators
  • After 100% HBS with EDS machines, baggage is automatically sorted by a HELIXORTER to 50-70 make-up chutes where full baggage reconciliation is applied
  • Early Bag Storage by lanes is provided for 250 bags
  • Arrival reclaim on 4 flat TRIPLANAR carousels
Cologne-Bonn Airport awarded Vanderlande Industries these contracts based on their confidence in our products and capabilities. T2 is able now to serve 6 million annual passengers via these modern and effective baggage handling solutions.
