Efficient automated goods receiving
Goods receiving is the setup for all other warehousing activities. It is important to receive products correctly in order to handle it properly in put-away, storage, order picking or shipping. After unloading, our VISION warehouse management system drives identification, checking and registration of the products. The functionality includes handling of returns, unexpected goods and repacking. Goods are directed to storage, order picking or directly to shipping through a cross docking process.
With increasing off-shore sourcing, more and more goods are received in containers. Automated sortation can quickly and efficiently sort incoming products by SKU. Depending on product velocity and specific product characteristics goods can be stored on pallets, in cartons, in totes or on trays. Goods can be automatically directed to storage or sent to order picking, minimising manual handling and providing speed and efficiency in replenishment and supply.
La Halle – Vivarte implemented an automated goods receiving solution. This brings them a more efficient supply of the order picking areas, facilitates quality assurance, minimises manual handling and improves throughput and working conditions.
Argos implemented a sortation and pallet high-bay storage at Central Receiving. Containers are unloaded and sorted to SKU by a sliding shoe sorter (POSISORTER) and palletised automatically. Pallets are placed in a pallet high-bay storage. This automated goods receiving process provides them significant savings and ensures continuity of supply. It also eliminates much of the manually intensive handling of inbound goods flows.
