Service Engineer Vanderlande qualified for WorldSkills in Calgary, Canada
Karel Versteegen, service engineer at Vanderlande Industries in Veghel, was successful in his qualification for the competition WorldSkills 2009. Over 1,000 competitors from 51 different countries will compete simultaneously in 45 skill categories during four days of intense competition. This event takes place every two years, this year in Calgary, Canada.
Karel won this ticket during the qualification round for the skill Industrial automation. The WorldSkills take place from 1-7 September this year. Together with 27 other young professionals he is part of Team the Netherlands.You can read more about their experiences at the website of the team (Dutch only). The 20 year old Karel Versteegen succeeded in a scoring of 96% during this 4th and last qualification round. In this last and final qualification he had the challenge in programming a PLC. In this test he had to show his skills on the controls part. The limit was 85%. “I was much faster then I was in former qualification rounds. For me this was a good sign”, according to Karel.
Karel: “I was looking forward to this contest a long time already. Now it will be training, training and training. Training sessions are planned at various companies. There are also mental and physical training sessions planned before the competition. Of course, Karel’s goal is to get a medal at the WordSkills in Canada.
