Smooth, reliable handling of a wide range of parcels at Exapaq in Beaune

Founded in 1995 by 19 independent transport companies, Exapaq has been part of Geopost Group since 2006 and is a specialist in small parcels delivery in France and Europe.

With now more than 50 depots and 6 hubs in France, the company has always chosen mechanised solutions to sort important flows in time-limited slots.

Compared with other systems in the network, the Beaune Hub was built and equipped in 2007 with the latest generation POSISORTER. The main reasons for this choice were the need for smooth handling of a wide range of parcel types and the proven reliability of the Vanderlande Industries shoe sorter technology.

Parcels are unloaded from trucks onto telescopic boom conveyors, scanned and presorted by an operator to one of the two sorters or to an out-of-gauge line (TRIPLANAR carrousel).

With these two sorters linked in a loop, redundancy is improved and parcels can always reach the right destination even in case of operator error or temporary chute overload. After one year of operations, four additional infeed lines were added to the six existing lines to increase system capacity to 12,000 parcels per hour and facilitate truck transfers.

Customer benefits:
