Quick wins with simple systems at Geopost UK
Sometimes simple installations provide quick wins and this has certainly been the case for Geopost in the UK. After a successful pilot project with one PAXORTER system installed, Geopost ordered 8 additional PAXORTER systems for 8 separate depots around the UK over a period of two years.
The morning shift handles parcels arriving from the National Geopost Hub, to be sorted to the delivery routes in the region. The afternoon shift receives parcels from the region, to be sorted to the hub or to other depots. Depending on the shift, the system can be run in one direction or in reverse mode, making it possible both to unload trucks and sort to delivery vans, or in reverse to unload from delivery vans and sort to trucks.
Furthermore, Geopost saw an opportunity for improved tracking and tracing at the depot level of its express parcel sortation network.
