Huhtamäki applies QUICKSTORE HDS for order consolidation
Huhtamäki is one of the world’s largest packaging companies and one of the few truly global players. Its focus and expertise is in paper, plastic, film and moulded fiber. The company has annual sales of more than € 2 bln. Vanderlande Industries delivered and installed an order consolidation system for them based on the QUICKSTORE HDS. Huhtamäki selected this system because of its flexibility in storage and throughput.
For Huhtamäki’s production and distribution centre in Katowice, Poland, Vanderlande Industries delivered and installed the system to organize and optimize the goods flow, from production, through order consolidation to palletising. QUICKSTORE HDS’ flexibility enables the company to quickly and easily adapt the system to changes in workload and variations in order patterns. With a storage capacity of over 800 cartons and a throughput capacity of over 300 cartons per hour, the system enables Huhtamäki to continue its growth in the near future.
QUICKSTORE HDS is part of Vanderlande Industries’ family of miniload-based storage systems. It is a cost-effective solution for short-term automated storage of order cartons. Cartons are automatically presented in the required sequence for stacking on pallets. The result is fast, efficient order consolidation with minimal manual labor requirements.
