Our Power and Energy Competence team works directly with customers to help them increase energy efficiency, save money on energy bills and meet their own climate goals. Over the past year, they’ve led a successful pilot to find ways of cutting energy use at one of our customer’s main distribution centres. For example, they worked on adjusting running speeds and using low-friction conveyors that are 40% more energy-efficient than the conventional alternative.
Over the past year, we have reduced baseline energy consumption by:
- installing insulation and LED lighting
- increasing the use of heat pumps
- and using more renewable energy through contract guarantees.
We’ve also worked with customers on a new methodology for measuring carbon emissions, and by finding ways of reducing energy use at distribution centres. Moreover, we have piloted the use of cleaner fuels for transportation.
Helping customers reach climate goals
Our climate action for the future
Over the next few years we will:
- further reduce emissions from business travel by changing company cars to electric or hybrid models
- provide financial incentives to encourage employees to cycle to work
- analyse our use of virgin materials, particularly steel and aluminium, to decide if these can be replaced with recycled or lower-carbon alternatives
- and work with high-impact suppliers to put emission reduction targets in place.
We also aim to have 90% of our total energy consumption covered by ISO 50001 certification. In FY2025, we will roll out our new power and energy tool, which will provide customers with in-depth data on energy use and simulation modelling for some of our products.

Our other sustainability focus areas
Circular economy
We’re taking a more circular approach to our solutions, as well as introducing circularity as a requirement in product and supplier criteria. Central to our work is reusing, recycling and remanufacturing as much as possible as we implement our Supplier Code of Conduct.
