Pick Of The Bunch

If you are involved in the food retail industry, you will know that it’s in a constant state of flux. That’s because consumers continue to demand fresh, high-quality products and an excellent service.

People also expect their shopping experience to be stress-free, without aisles blocked by pallets or staff replenishing shelves. In addition, offering a high availability of products has now become normal practice.

“We are enthusiastic about the possibilities for STOREPICK. Not only does it require a lower initial investment due to its small footprint, but operational costs are reduced by making warehouse processes more efficient. “

Therefore, you must cope with growing volumes of diversified stock and multiple store formats. In addition, you must factor in an expanding number of SKUs, which has an impact on space utilisation.

A natural evolution

If I had to breakdown the current situation, it would be two-fold: stores need their supplies on time and to offer full shelves to customers. Combined with the challenge of labour scarcity at stores and distribution centres (DCs), warehouse automation and the ability to provide store-friendly deliveries are crucial.

For these reasons, Vanderlande has developed STOREPICK. Excitingly, we will soon launch this new solution into the market. It has been designed to assist food retailers and suppliers to improve their competitive positions.

STOREPICK is the natural successor of our automated case picking (ACP) concept. It is a robotised door-to-door warehouse solution based on intensive market research, as well as close cooperation with our customers.

As flexible as possible

STOREPICK facilitates store-friendly deliveries and optimises the entire value chain due to the way in which it retrieves products in the desired sequence. It also offers rapid shelf replenishment for multi-store format deliveries.

Creating a robust solution was an important consideration for us during the design phase. This allows STOREPICK to facilitate late order cut-off times, while maintaining complete control over all warehouse processes.

Order handling is secure, because there is no single point of failure. Delivery trucks are loaded according to route sequencing and carriers are stacked with a high density.

We’ve incorporated flexibility into the system due to the multi-directional shuttles of our ADAPTO system, as well as the use of AGVs. The secret of ADAPTO is that it can deliver products to a pick station in any predefined sequence.

The modular design of STOREPICK also makes it easy for you to scale it up in order to meet your future requirements, both in terms of capacity and changing business needs.

Exciting potential

We are enthusiastic about the possibilities for STOREPICK. Not only does it require a lower initial investment due to its small footprint, but operational costs are reduced by making warehouse processes more efficient. The dependence on manual intervention is also lowered.

This combination of benefits means that you have continuous access to all products during the picking process and can fulfil any order efficiently. In this way, you can continually keep your customers happy regardless of changing market dynamics.
