About the webinar 

The way people shop for their groceries is changing. As more of us start to opt for convenience and speed, we are moving towards ‘a butler economy’. What does this mean for online ordering and delivery, how does this translate to shop formats, and what does the future hold for bricks-and-mortar stores? Even more so, where are digital and physical shopping separated and where do they come together?  

When examining these issues, the webinar will draw on tangible developments that we see in Europe including specific examples. Additionally, we deliberate on the implications for the different aspects of fulfilment, such as cost, speed and assortment. We will also discuss Vanderlande’s view on process innovation for the online grocery shopping market before the webinar is opened for questions from viewers. 

About Gino Van Ossel 

Professor Gino Van Ossel is one of Europe’s leading thinkers on retail management, opti/omnichannel developments, e-commerce and shopping behaviour. He has developed an unrivalled understanding of the customer’s journey from the earliest buying intention to the purchase and beyond.  

Along with teaching duties, the professor helps branded goods manufacturers with their channel management and go-to-market strategy issues. Among others, he has worked for Ahold, Delhaize, Carrefour, Kraft, Spar, Toyota and UPS.  

The professor is also an accomplished author. His book “Omnichannel in retail” (2014) won both marketing and management book of the year in The Netherlands – to date the only publication ever to win both awards. Its successor “Optichannel retail: beyond the digital hysteria” (2018) also became marketing book of the year.
