Vanderlande welcomed valued partner DPD to its stand at Parcel and Post Expo 2026 to celebrate 25 years of collaboration. The two companies have built a solid relationship over the years, which has seen Vanderlande install sortation systems at 50 DPD sites across the UK.
During an informal question-and-answer session on Wednesday 23 September, both reflected on how their partnership has grown through rapid changes in the parcel delivery sector, powered most recently by the online shopping revolution.
From local depots through to regional sorting centres, Vanderlande has equipped DPD’s network with increasingly sophisticated automated technologies. This has helped the parcel business become a major player in the UK market.
The two companies are now exploring new areas of innovation, including the successful introduction of a predictive maintenance programme on a sorter at DPD’s Heathrow Airport depot. The collaboration on advanced systems continues as DPD’s Crawley depot is currently piloting the use of SPOX, Vanderlande’s next-generation line sorter.
Beyond the technology, the two have built a relationship based on trust that has seen them work through every challenge. One recent milestone was the development of DPD’s largest delivery depot in London’s Docklands, which began processing parcels in November 2023. The partners worked together to resolve significant structural issues with the building before installing a high-capacity sorting solution.
They have also developed a solid service partnership to ensure DPD has the operational support it needs to keep things moving. This includes Vanderlande providing site-based maintenance teams at some of DPD’s depots. The companies recently signed a framework agreement that will further strengthen the partnership and ensure that DPD’s network is ready for growth.

“We view Vanderlande as a trusted supplier, because they are always committed to going the extra mile when designing and installing our systems,” says Paul Harding, Head of Engineering Networks at DPD. “Over the years, the collaboration has matured, and provides us with confidence as we move our business forward and look to seize new growth opportunities.”
“From simple conveying solutions to today’s sophisticated sorting systems, our companies have been at the forefront of change in the parcel industry – and that’s worth celebrating as we reach the 25-year mark,” adds Markus Ehrmann, Executive Managing Director with Vanderlande from Vanderlande. “We have nurtured a close working relationship based on transparency and good communication, which helps us to resolve any issues while meeting the sector’s demanding requirements.”
