The EcoVadis assessment evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: environment; labour and human rights; ethics; and sustainable procurement. More than 130,000 companies across the world have been rated by EcoVadis.
The EcoVadis rating provides independent, globally recognised proof that Vanderlande’s sustainability efforts directly support customers’ own environmental and social ambitions. It confirms that the company is taking concrete, measurable steps to reduce emissions across the value chain, deliver more circular and energy efficient solutions, ensure safe and inclusive working environments, and uphold the highest ethical standards. This gives customers in the airports and parcel sectors confidence that partnering with Vanderlande helps them meet their sustainability targets and regulatory requirements.
Vanderlande’s gold rating reflects strong performance in key areas of the assessment. In particular, the company has strengthened its supplier risk assessment, placing greater emphasis on identifying and managing sustainability risks across the supply chain – an improvement recognised by EcoVadis. Vanderlande also performed strongly on sustainable product development, with specific recognition for its approach to managing end-of-life systems to enable reuse, remanufacturing, recycling and reduced environmental impact.
“We’re delighted to have been awarded gold – it’s validation of the steps we’ve taken to become more sustainable across all our activities. The rating is important because it demonstrates our sustainability commitment to our customers and stakeholders, and identifies how our performance compares to our peers,” says Fieke Fleskens, Vanderlande’s Corporate Sustainability Officer. “The EcoVadis assessment also offers insights into how we can improve our practices going forward.”
EcoVadis’ business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard. The ratings provide an evidenced-based analysis on performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.
