A flexible end-to-end solution

Sheremetyevo Airport is the major Russian airport and also a hub for the passenger operations of the Russian international airline Aeroflot. Sheremetyevo-2, built for the Olympic Games of 1980 used to be the most famous airport in Russia, because nearly every foreign traveller walked through its doors. 

The baggage handling system for Sheremetyevo Terminal 3 consists of two fully separated systems, one for international and one for domestic passengers. In total there are 116 check-in positions and 8 arrival TRIPLANAR carousels available as well as a special check-in for transfer passengers from international to domestic flights and vice versa. The system is equipped with 100% Hold Baggage Screening and has a fully automated early bag store for long term and short term bags. Sorting bags to flights is performed by a HELIXORTER, a Vanderlande patented tilt tray sorter with a closed deck and a complete back-up system. 

The Vanderlande VIBES process control software suite integrates the operational management with the BHS. It offers a flexible end-to-end solution to master all the aspects of real time operational control, sortation (SAC), security and customs screening, monitoring and optimisation of the baggage handling processes including a fully integrated security check where the passenger’s bag security status is checked after reading the boarding card.
