Requirements

The volume and variety of SKUs – over 200,000 items – meant that Würth had a logistical challenge to: uphold its reliable service; further improve delivery accuracy; increase storage density; create ergonomic working conditions; and remain competitive.

The solution

Würth needed advice on how to optimise its warehouse processes. After constant support and dialogue a HDS shuttle system was installed allowing the company to store and retrieve goods rapidly. The integration of intelligent software, such as VISION, also provides Würth with elevated control. This guarantees process continuity and high picking accuracy.
Throughout the installation process, the company could rely on a partner dedicated to its individual requirements. As part of an ongoing life-cycle services contract, Würth now receives reports based on business process intelligence data. This identifies areas for continuous improvement.

General customer information

The Würth Group was founded in 1945 and has over 400 companies in 80 countries. It is the global market leader for the supply and assembly of fastening materials to automotive, craft, industrial and construction customers. Würth Sweden is strategically located in the country’s logistics hub, Örebro.
Challenges
Würth’s vision is to help its customers streamline the management of their supplies through the solutions it provides. The company’s capacity to meet its customers’ demands for quality and service means that it has a delivery reliability rate of 98% within 24 hours.
To realise its growth ambitions and to accommodate any future increase in demand, Würth Sweden needed to extend its operations. This included the establishment of a new headquarters and distribution centre in Örebro. At the same time, the company had to keep its service levels high and identify ways to further reduce costs.
