Equipment Logistics System

Optimise Container Terminal Operations

The Equipment Logistics System (ELS) is an enterprise platform designed to streamline operations and increase throughput at container terminals. It comprises a range of modules for maritime and intermodal terminals, as well as an integration layer for internal orchestration and for connecting internal and external services.

Maritime

ELS increases throughput in maritime terminals and conserves resources by ensuring the efficient utilisation of equipment. The software manages all container movements within the terminal and supports fully automated, semi-automated, and manual transport processes. A global orchestrator plans and coordinates all transports, while local modules for each equipment execute and optimise processes at device level.

The platform provides internal interfaces for connecting to other systems and external solutions, such as cloud‑based services. This allows these processes to be seamlessly embedded into the terminal’s overall IT landscape,

ELS provides the following modules for daily terminal operations:

Intermodal

ELS INTERMODAL provides comprehensive control of cranes and mobile equipment, such as reach stackers, for intermodal and trimodal terminals. The system supports all standard terminal processes and optimises the handling of trucks, trains, and inland vessels. In addition to operational control, system integration is crucial, so the platform allows external systems to connect and be smoothly integrated into terminal workflows.

Operational functions

Beyond the data layer, ELS provides a wide range of operational functions, including the forecasting, scheduling and dispatching of container movements within a terminal. A powerful graphical user interface (GUI) with real-time 3D visualisation ensures continuous transparency and interaction. At its core is ELS UX, the central UX‑driven operating environment where all relevant information and details are brought together.

ELS can also be integrated into existing brownfield sites to increase productivity without the need for extra equipment. Its open platform design allows communication with other systems via APIs.

The Data Hub associated with the ELS Orchestrator archives usage data, enabling operators to draw on historical information to further improve processes.
