Forest Programme takes root with planting of almost 10,000 trees

Vanderlande has raised € 50,000 in order to donate almost 10,000 trees to be planted in Het Groene Woud (the Green Forest) in The Netherlands. The trees will be planted in a new ‘loam’ forest, covering 2.5 hectares, facilitated by not-for-profit organisation Trees for All.

The donation is the result of the Vanderlande Forest Programme, an employee-driven initiative, which was launched in November last year. A variety of sources contributed to the final total, including a charity run, tree gifts for birthdays and Christmas, and donations from the local entrepreneurs’ club, employees and Vanderlande.

As a responsible company, Vanderlande wants to take bold steps towards becoming a net-zero carbon organisation. With this in mind, the Forest Programme is a global initiative, and a key part of the company’s vision on sustainability.

“We’re delighted with the progress of the Forest Programme so far, and the positive impact it will have on the environment,” says Vanderlande’s CFO Herman Molenaar. “I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have contributed; we hope we can continue the good work of these initiatives long into the future.”
