We last visited DHL Express Madrid’s (DHL) 14,500 m2 air hub at Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport just after it opened in 2018. In this edition of Fast Forward, we go back to the state-of-the-art facility to see how Vanderlande’s parcel sortation system is increasing capacity for the company’s national and international services.

Oman Airports

Vanderlande has provided state-of-the-art baggage handling systems for two new passenger terminals at Muscat and Salalah international airports in Oman. The systems are integral to wider upgrades of both sites, and moves them away from a completely manual process for sorting bags.

Dublin Airport

Operator daa (Dublin Airport Authority) and Vanderlande completed the installation of a new automated baggage handling system (BHS) at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 in time for the 2023 holiday season.

Fast forward > Istanbul Airport

Istanbul Airport opened in April 2019, complete with a baggage handling system engineered, supplied and installed by Vanderlande. Zalando Sweden

Zalando selected Vanderlande’s AIRTRAX Pocket sorter to act as the heart of the new facility. Containing 6,500 pockets, it has been implemented as a pilot project.

Bosch needed a new warehousing system for its DC in Karlsruhe. It had to facilitate triple-depth storage of containers weighing up to 50kg. Vanderlande’s QUICKSTORE turned out to be an ideal fit.

Passenger numbers have increased steadily and as a result, Bergen opened a new terminal in the summer of 2017.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has long been at the heart of Europe’s aviation industry. However, growth has been higher than anticipated in recent times, and the airport has to balance this with other factors. Camper faced a number of challenges to improve its internal logistics processes. It had to cope with the different dimensions of cartons that are retrieved from 60,000 locations within the warehouse. It also had to ensure that the handling of loose-lid boxes was more efficient when processing replenishment orders.

ifm’s old warehouse was too small to handle its next phase of development. For its new warehouse, Vanderlande proposed ADAPTO, a highly flexible 3D storage, retrieval and transportation system.

One of the most modern and efficient meat-processing facilities in Europe was recently built in Rheinstetten, Baden Württemberg, Germany. At the facility, owned by EDEKA Südwest Fleisch GmbH, meat products are produced and delivered to over 1,250 outlets.
