Check-in Podcast, S03E03: Enabling end-to-end baggage logistics using a “pull approach”

In this season’s Check-in, podcast maker Mattijs Franken takes a deep dive into the future of baggage logistics. Across six episodes he will speak to experts in the field and find out how issues such as innovation, digitalisation and sustainability impact on baggage handling operations.

To ensure a working system of end-to-end baggage logistics, a so-called “pull approach” is essential. In this third episode of our Check-in series, Gijs Bartelet and Frans Wijnheijmer reveal all about this system and its specific enablers.

We learn that moving from the (more traditional) push to a pull approach can help airports to optimise their baggage handling processes, both in terms of labour requirements and use of space. In addition, the pull concept is more predictable, which means it’s easier to automate.
